For more information, contact Diane Boyett at 361-788-9204 or Katharyn Stratmann at 361-788-9553

The 125 voices of the Victoria ISD Honor Choir will present their Sixth Annual Concert on Thursday, February 6 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Victoria Fine Arts Center.

Each elementary school in the district will be represented through membership in the fifth grade choir. Students auditioned for a place in the choir earlier in the year and have been working with guest conductor Crystal Dawdy in practice sessions.  Ms. Dawdy is the Choral Director for Howell Middle School.

Honor Choir coordinator Kathy Stratmann said during the audition process, students are evaluated on rhythm, pitch and enunciation. While each campus program may take a slightly different approach in music education, the overall focus is the same. “We want the students to be proud of what they are doing and take ownership in everything they do, which buildings the confidence and self-esteem needed in making this a spectacular event,” Stratmann said.

Former members of the Honor Choir who are now in high school will lead the students in the “Star Spangled Banner” to open the concert.

The VISD Honor Choir Concert is Thursday, February 6 at 7 p.m. at the Victoria Fine Arts Center, 1002 Sam Houston Dr.  Admission is free.
